It’s a sad fact of life that not every casino is on the up and up. While there are plenty of legitimate places that are completely fair and just here for a good time, like the live casino online on Paddy Power, there are some which are a little more… nefarious. There are a couple of ways you can tell that a casino might be playing on the wrong side of the law, here’s a couple of litmus tests you can apply to see if they might not be what they appear to be.
Terms and Conditions
If you’re going to be gambling online, it’s a no-brainer that you’ll want to check the terms and conditions. But if you click on that T’s and C’s button and all you get a labyrinthine mess of text and broken HTML code, well, you might be dealing with a rogue casino. An online casino should always have easily accessible terms and conditions as well as a statement of fairness that guarantees you won’t be ripped off. If you can’t get a hold of the terms and conditions, there’s every chance they’re out to scam you.
Contacting the Staff
If you can’t find a good way to read the terms and conditions, you can always try messaging the staff directly. Whatever method they have available may also be an indication of what level that casino is operating at- if they have a comprehensive list of e-mail, telephone, live chat, fax, etc and reply rapidly then it’s a positive sign that they could be legitimate! If they only have the one it can be a little less comforting (especially if that only way is fax). Of course, what they say when they talk to you is another thing to look out for.
Questionable E-mails
If the casino operator sends you strange e-mails then this could be another sign that not everything is right. Say, you leave a bad review on another site because you couldn’t get through to the contact us page and they e-mail you, directly, threatening to box your ears and throw you out of a window. This lack of professionalism is most likely a negative sign that the casino operator may be a little more… rogue. If you also suddenly begin receiving e-mails from people claiming to be foreign nobles who need to give you money after you register with the casino, this can also be seen as a red flag.
Lack of a License
Really, this is the most important one, most online casinos will be audited by a third party agency to ensure their games actually use random number generators in their software. This is to ensure fairness and that every game actually is a game of chance and not a complicated scam. If you can’t find any accreditation from a respectable agency then it’s entirely possible the site is a scam and the games are rigged. Check for this one most of all!
